i have Evans and the new lad Jean B down as first team starters so Boyce as club captain will be mostly off the bench which is where i would prefer him to be bearing in mind his age and lack of speed/turn of foot.
My choice would have been Evans and Roberts.

In all seriousness, I wouldn’t suggest Roberts. As great an asset he is, he can be prone to a little sulk when things aren’t going his way. A captain’s not that.

Agree he does seem to whinge during games and Starbuck may suffer most if passes dont go the right way ,,Roberts IMO is not captain material and hes been given it to appease his ego.. he thinks he is MR SUFC.

Roberts has self-confidence, but reading too much into it should be avoided. Butler may think he has leadership material and it might not be because Roberts needs to be placated.

It could be a Butler masterstroke giving Roberts the vice captaincy.

Unless Frenchy Jean is a dog then Boycie is not going to start too often once Butler ditches the 5 at the back – hopefully a lot earlier than last season.

It’s not uncommon for the most talented footballer of a group to get frustrated with “lesser mortals”. Club vice captaincy which may well morph into team captaincy will surely encourage CR10 to be a bit more supportive of his team mates.

He is confident, positive in his play and he turns up every week. If he can inspire more of these things in the rest of the squad everyone wins.

It may make him a better team player which will benefit us,or he may just try too much,his biggest failing?
I’d have thought that Whitehall needs the responsibility more and would have benefitted from it,

When did Cal Roberts confide in you and said he thought he was Mr SUFC? Fascinating if he said that to you or is it just your gut feeling based on no evidence? Yeah ok you must be right, lol.

A player who gives his all, Rarely makes a mistake and pops up with enough goals to keep us safe. Not flamboyant but reliable and for me he ticks most of the boxes. Those that moaned about Clunan will moan about Boyce. Which proves to me they moan!
