Played well last week, but that clanger today under no pressure let the corner go straight through his hands.

That should be basic fundamentals a gk at this level should have. Worries me that he does that in a game which we’re not leading by 3 goals.

Yeah he dropped a bollock today, shit happens, I’m sure he’ll learn from it , looked like a concentration lapse because it was a basic error. Won the game comfortably and I won’t be going on about his mistake ad nauseam and I trust others won’t because there were a lot of positives from today’s win, including some good performances from new players Howe, Ewing and Horton, very satisfying first home game of the season.

He claimed a ball under a lot of pressure earlier, but no idea what happened with the goal, give him a chance Burny getting on his back won’t make his confidence getting better

Nothing more nothing less than in pre season showings, at least you’ve seen for yourself now for those who went and not as though fans haven’t said about him, that’s at least 3 that’s gone in between his hands when trying to claim so he’s not learning very quickly.
No biggie at the moment and not cost us a point, but today hasn’t helped him whatsoever when a solid performance was needed.
    In Butler you trust!

    Played 2, won 2
    Scored 5, conceded 2
    2nd in the league

    Shit happens
    Give the kid a chance

Why – Because everyone, in every walk of life; whether they be King, President, peasant or pauper… makes mistakes.

Live is life… enjoy the ride.

Three mistakes, three goals!! You cannot discount the Mickey Mouse cup match in your stats. A competitive game and he conceded three. People keep saying he will learn, from what I see he is a very slow learner and it is costing us goals.

Not just the competitive games this season either is it though, he was making these glaring mistakes in almost every game in pre-season too. His distribution is piss poor as well, gifted Sunderland’s first in mid week and a number of dead balls flying straight into touch in both league games so far. How long do we roll out the “he’s young, give the lad a chance” excuse? He’s a professional footballer and that sort of mistake made today is the sort you make as a youth and quickly learn from it. Thankfully we were 3-0 up after a relatively impressive performance, but we won’t be afforded that luxury all season and he’s going to cost us.

    Rory in?
We know from last Autumn that AB can really dig in his heels if confronted with the adverse consequences of his planning.
I do SO want Campbell to succeed but Rory – former Iron Player of the Season – MUST surely be the better player.
    Innit?

Unless AB gives him a try we will never know. Probably wait until we have lost a few games and slipped down the table before he realises his error. (somewhat like the famous five trial last season)

I like how every goal is a keepers mistake, whereas last season it must have been divine intervention as the over rated keeper who let them is deified on here ?
Reading Les ETC above I have to laugh, Butler ignored you and we got promoted .It must hurt being so wrong, you’re now digging again.
He’s building a team and our keeper is young and learning, Only a week or two ago when we signed Rory he was seen as not good enough then so why would he be now, reading comments above don’t match that narrative. Make your minds up
This is a team being built we cannot buy one off the shelf, therefore inexperienced players are learning on the job, we have to accept that.I’ll be judging Butler at the end of next season if we haven’t improved. From what I saw yesterday we have

In so many ways that was a super performance yesterday. So many improvements showing through from last season’s play.
Better positioning; stealing ball well; heavier and cleaner tackles; better passing; getting best out of defenders; more effective attacking; not dropping straight back to the edge of the box as soon as Woking moved forward etc, etc.
If Howe can keep putting in performances like that – it’s almost as good as being allowed to field 12 men.

One thing I cannot get quite right in my head is Rowley’s type of play. I don’t see him as often as I expect to but you just know in your guts that he is doing a really good job.

In the papers after saturday game it read ” After flapping at corner a calamitous goal was conceded ” – you remember the goal ? Well the keeper they referred to was ALTAY BAYINDIR of Manchester United. He cost them £4.3 million. His Manager Mr Amorim said he was not looking for another keeper.

    Just to give a balance.

He was not fouled. He was very weak and took his eye off the ball.

It was poor tactically on Man Utd’s part, they deployed Mason Mount as keeper cover against Saliba, Arsenals strongest player. No contest, Mount went walkabout and Saliba used his strength on the keeper to force the fumble, no foul IMO just Arsenal employing good tactics from their strongest player, good lesson for Man U’s ” marvellous coach ” to take on board.

The only balance I can see is that both clubs knew they needed a new goalie this season, and both have gone for the cheapest option of promoting their second string.

False economy! only time will tell already cost man u a point, with us just one less on goal difference and the biggest talking point from the game and that with Howe scoring 2 on his home debut should have been all about him.
Pressure’s on even more now for both goalies and it’s not the fans fault they will just be fans and comment on what they see.

Credit to him today- a lot more confidence claiming the ball in his area.

Really pleasing to see the reaction he got in front of the main stand at full time too
