Someone’s 0 could go.
Iron undefeated at home, Wood undefeated away.(21) Boston Utd 0-2 Wood
(23) Sutton Utd 3-4 Wood
(9) Hartlepool 0‑0 Wood
(2) Carlisle 3‑3 WoodCurrent league positions of opponents played are in brackets.
It’d be easy to sit on the fence and tip a 2-2 draw.
However, we’re full of goals at the moment; so I’m going to go:Iron 2-1 Wood (on a wet & windy night) or Iron 3-1 Wood if it’s calm & dry.

September 23, 2025 at 9:33 pm #311517I fancy a 2-1 win. Dawson and Roberts. Whitehall is rated as 50/50 to start so will probably be coming off the bench.

Howitzer, JR Ewing & Les Dawson to score for us.

September 24, 2025 at 2:08 pm #311535Don’t see them scoring more than one so 2-1 win
September 24, 2025 at 6:50 pm #311539Ewing and Whitehall not in the squad.
Going to be tough.
September 24, 2025 at 7:31 pm #311540I was puzzled by Butler’s use of Whitehall for 20 minutes on Saturday. I’m even more confused now he’s not in tonight’s squad. Ewing a big loss, OK for Saturday I hope.
September 24, 2025 at 8:14 pm #311541Getting taught the game here
September 24, 2025 at 8:17 pm #311542Got to change it at half time
September 24, 2025 at 8:26 pm #311543Not good so far is it. So many heads down strolling around the pitch. Pitch probably isn’t helping, can’t believe it’s this bad after how bad it was last season…lesson clearly not learnt.
September 24, 2025 at 8:38 pm #311544Picked up a bit towards half time there but got to press em and get at it second half to get anything out of this. First reality check tonight so far. 2 key players out and it all looks different.
September 24, 2025 at 9:18 pm #311545Phew. More like it this half. They could be 3 or 4 up by now.
September 24, 2025 at 9:41 pm #311547Still undefeated.
Ewing missed.
I’d like to see Howe down the middle.September 24, 2025 at 9:42 pm #311548Definitely taking a point after that first half piss take. They’ll be the more disappointed dropping 2 points. Good side but second best, second half. Think with Ewing and Whitehall we might have scored another.
September 24, 2025 at 9:52 pm #311549Better 2nd half but still not great, lucky to come away from that with a draw so we’ll take the point and move on.
September 24, 2025 at 9:53 pm #311550Outclassed by a very good side, second half effort deserved a point but game could have been over by HT.
Have Howes goals disguised the fact that his passing is shocking, lost or gave away the ball almost every time he touched it.2 users thanked author for this post.
September 24, 2025 at 10:42 pm #311551Like most others agree we were schooled first half by a very good team, if you don’t get near the opposition and press them you will get punished. Three good saves from Rory kept us in it but second half we closed them down sooner and they suddenly looked less comfortable. Deserved a point even though Cal got lucky with the pen rebound and a draw was about right overall. We are learning every game and are still unbeaten in the league, cracking match though full of good football, endeavour and both teams looked thoroughly knackered at the end with the efforts they had put in, I really enjoyed the game.

Agree almost word for word. B.Wood an impressive outfit for this level, could have easily been out of sight first half- number 10 especially oozes quality.
Got to give credit to Butler though, changed the shape to improve the press and it seemed to pay dividends as their defence began to tire. Last 20minutes were thoroughly enjoyable to watch with 2 decent sides exchanging blows- more then happy with a point.
Evans exceptional again- MOTM. Mention to Watson too whom I thought had bother solid game.

September 25, 2025 at 11:03 am #311567I thought they were excellent, he seems to be too critical.
September 25, 2025 at 11:23 am #311568Not one for a draw but from all reports would seem this was a good one, not bad considering we had our 2 best players out.
Roberts certainly not the number one when it comes to penalty taking that’s 2 he’s missed this season.September 25, 2025 at 11:50 am #311570If that had been us, we’d be rueing the amount of chances to put the game to bed, and rightly so. All their possession and creating clear cut chances must be frustrating for the players and coaches.
September 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm #311571352 shown again not to work. Not sure any manager in the Prem could improve the return.
442 or 433 seems to make players commit quicker and more positive. Stick to it.
September 25, 2025 at 1:22 pm #311572I agree with most on here that Borehamwood were the best team we have played this season, like last year, 8/9 games in teams have rumbled their opponents style of play and it was obvious in the first half that Borehamwood had done their homework on our preferred style of play at home. However, unlike last year Butler changed formation in the second half and demanded our high press game. The Wood didn’t look so good once we started doing that and while I accept they should have had the game in their pocket by half time, they didn’t and a draw was a fair result at the end.
For me therefore, credit to the management team for coaching in some flexibility to our style of play. My only criticism is that they now have to develop some way of initiating that change whilst the game is in play and not hang on until half time!
Looking at last night’s game and the game against FGR , I feel that we are not currently good enough to win this league. But, given a fair run without injuries or suspensions and the determination showed in the second half we will make the play off’s and my worst case scenario is a top twelve finish, not a relegation battle, which is good.
I had a sneaky tenner on us drawing all 4 of these top of the table clashes. It’s still on. -
