While last season is still fresh in our minds, which players from our NLN opponents do you think would be worth trying to attract to Scunthorpe for our NL campaign. By all means include lone signings from clubs higher up the pyramid who we may be able to borrow next season.
May 19, 2025 at 8:17 pm #304787Maz Kouhyar (Kiddy on loan from York – flukey goalscorer) Could be available especially if York go up.
Josh Hmami (Kings Lynn) – would like to have signed him last summer. KL budget cut by new owner so a possible.May 19, 2025 at 8:24 pm #304793Kid in goal for Chester yesterday looked promising.
On loan from wolves, on loan in northern prem first half of the season then recalled for a step up.
Maybe due another step up next yearMay 19, 2025 at 8:28 pm #304797Paul Blackett would be a great signing from South Shields, but is contracted to them for another two years so would probably cost too much.
Luke Brennan a wide player from Buxton who looked good against us. I’ve just done a little research and he scored 11 goals and assisted 9 for them the season just gone. Only 23 years old and is out of contract next month.

May 19, 2025 at 8:34 pm #304803Think Whitehall along with Roberts and obviously Fitz will be gone, finding suitable replacements on less money won’t be easy but there will be some out there and you would think Schofield will be able to help Andy out with contacts, he’s been around the game forever that bloke.
May 19, 2025 at 8:37 pm #304806Is Roberts actually going or is that just pure speculation ?. Another good player at this level was Babos for Hereford, played well against us. Hereford offered him a contract, but turned it down and is now without a club. Central midfield player.
May 19, 2025 at 9:24 pm #304813Always liked the look of Buckley-Ricketts when he’s played against us but he’s signed for Macclesfield.
Nick Haughton for Fylde has ridiculous stats for a midfielder and is someone I’d be pushing the boat out to sign if he’s out of contract.

Bang on, I had him ready for my earlier post then checked his current situation and saw he’d signed for Macc. Easily NL standard.
May 20, 2025 at 10:29 am #304848You stole my thunder WG. Blackett would be a good signing. Glen Taylor at Spennymoor has been prolific but he’s 35 now.
Don’t agree re: Storer DSGM. Seen a few of Chester’s other games with my mate this season and he’s looked a bit shaky at times.
May 20, 2025 at 11:16 am #304855Kouhyar would be a great signing, and whilst we’re on wide players I thought Chester’s Woods caused us a lot of problems on the left, but he only signed mid-season from Warrington so wouldn’t be available.

May 20, 2025 at 4:13 pm #304873American player?
May 20, 2025 at 4:50 pm #304878Stefan mols, curzon ,midfielder looked a class act when he played against us at the attis.

Good shout but lives near Clitheroe. Not sure of our budget but could we attract players who would need to relocate (Whitehall) or would we need to stick to best players in the region released by league clubs or up and coming in the leagues below. We’ll be able to tell when the first couple of signings are made

May 21, 2025 at 10:29 am #304894Tempting P/T players to become F/T could be difficult. If they’re on,say, £40k Mon-Fri plus ?? for playing (no idea what P/T wages are) then they could be beyond our budget, especially if relocation is involved. Might be easier with youngsters who just want to try for a career in F/T football.
May 21, 2025 at 6:07 pm #304906When South Shields went full time there were a couple of players (don’t remember who) that wouldn’t give up their jobs.
I know one went to Spennymoor, not sure about the other(s).
May 21, 2025 at 6:28 pm #304909Suspect Clunan wouldn’t have given up his day job without Dave’s silly money contract.
