What keeper do you think makes it all the way out to get a glove on that? His detractors will be claiming black is white next in their determination to be proved right. Admittedly he didn’t have a great game but that was down to poor defending from crosses again. The ball’s passage was outwards, it wasn’t curling in or anything like that:
October 6, 2025 at 5:39 pm #312000Trying be fair here. It would be harsh not to be wouldn’t it? Unless you had an agenda like.
October 6, 2025 at 5:53 pm #312001I’ll add to that, if it was such a big issue, why did Ollie not raise it as a possible keeper error in his post match interview with Butler? Never shy of asking tough questions is Ollie. Unless there was nothing to legitimate to raise?
October 6, 2025 at 5:59 pm #312002It was a near perfect corner it seemed.
October 6, 2025 at 6:13 pm #312003There’s talk of Watson being in ‘no man’s land’. No keeper is getting that ball and if he’d stayed on his line it would have been belted past him anyway and he’d be accused of being ‘Dracula’ again. I’ll say this aswell, no amount of filibustering, exasperated swearing, saying how frustrated you are as you peer in to your crystal ball means everyone else sees it the same. In fact, I’d wager the majority of fans don’t.
October 6, 2025 at 7:41 pm #312006DM66 where’s the talk of Watson being in no man’s land?
FB?October 6, 2025 at 7:52 pm #312007Well with all them posts I believe you’ve convinced yourself Deerey.

FB?Not FB, X mainly, in the ‘oh no he’s at it again!’ comments that seem follow any defensive error some are eager to blame the keepers for. Usually within seconds of the error.
October 6, 2025 at 9:36 pm #312021Well with all them posts I believe you’ve convinced yourself Deerey.
I don’t need convincing awaywego, and others can make their own minds up. I’m mainly responding to the two man crusade (supported by a gaggle of followers) on X to crucify both Watson and Campbell and to Matt Ellis’s comments on the last two Bru podcasts – latest one here: https://www.iron-bru.co.uk/podcast-the-elephant-in-the-room/. No one’s denying Rory had a pretty poor game but I really don’t think this lobbying to have them replaced is merited or justified. The situation is not that bad in my opinion. I think it’s over the top and unnecessary. To claim we have a ‘goalkeeping crisis’ is utterly absurd.

October 7, 2025 at 7:31 am #312026I’m not on X and it doesn’t let you view things very easily without an account. But if the last 2 IronBru podcasts are anything to go by, Matt Ellis has really got the knife out for Watson.
I posted this on the podcast comments for the previous episode :Horrible comments about our keepers from Matt Ellis.
A goalkeeper from a premier league team turns out to look better than our lads – what a surprise ! Without doubt if Watson or Campbell had conceded the goal at York you’d be losing your mind about it.
Describing one of our keepers as “shit”, “dog and duck” level is beyond disrespectful you should be ashamed of yourself. He’s come out with more after the Carlisle game, absolutely pathetic. Boyce gets sent off, Evans should have been, no Rowley, horrendous weather, crap pitch and three quarters of the podcast is about how the goalkeepers aren’t good enough !

October 7, 2025 at 8:55 am #312028Totally TJO. This is the main reason I’m making a point about it. It seems to be an obsession bordering on phobia. When people trying to make a point resort to filibustering and swearing, and contradicting themselves about whether an U19 loan keeper is a better option, it’s a pretty good indication their argument is weak. If any supporter spends chunks of the game worrying about the next cross coming in, it probably says more about them than anyone else. Up until Saturday, Rory had barely put a foot wrong. Maison before that too. For my sins I view X but don’t post anymore. It’s a vipers nest. Same with the FB group. I save my Iron ranting for Bru, sadly for Bru viewers ;)

October 7, 2025 at 11:40 am #312035We’re doing better in this league than anyone expected back in July.
Not much to criticise but keepers are always in the shop window.
October 7, 2025 at 12:37 pm #312038They were in some supporters firing line, let alone shop window, as soon as their names were mentioned. Sorry, I’ll try and resist from amplifying this situation borne out of agendas.
October 7, 2025 at 12:46 pm #312039I’ve stopped listening to the podcast to be honest. Same shyte, different day
October 7, 2025 at 2:45 pm #312042There seems to be a healthy degree of scrutiny on the keepers given Butler’s pre-season comments about Campbell and that he would ‘sink or swim’. It’s quite obvious to anyone with eyes that neither keeper we have is good enough or on a par with the quality of the rest of the squad.
Rory’s continued mistakes invite more scrutiny each week from fans and opposition managers and scouts alike. It’s fair to say he had a dreadful game against Carlisle, aerially and with his kicking.
Let’s hope the club come up with a solution before it becomes a real crisis.
October 7, 2025 at 2:49 pm #312043it’s when it’s someone else’s mistake like for the goal and they still blame the keeper you have to wonder ,or when our two huge defenders blocked his path and he couldn’t quite fist a ball away and their heads explode with rage you have to wonder about their sanity .Or the best was when he saved a shot pushing it away and the best they could do was “might have caught it”
October 7, 2025 at 3:48 pm #312049Just try and resist a bit harder Deerey, you’ve done 12 posts on the first 2 threads lol.
And you even started this thread , “one duff protest to much”
And maybe your one of the main reasons for kickback continually harking on about it.
There’s no hiding from what fans have seen at games it hasn’t been an illusion, I’d stick with Maison when we can he appears to be lucky for us if nothing else.October 7, 2025 at 4:40 pm #312050Just giving a counterpoint to the more unjustified stuff awaywego. Little of it on here though tbf. I’m not suggesting our keeper’s don’t have flaws btw, no one’s perfect.
October 7, 2025 at 4:50 pm #312052I don’t think we’ve got a goalkeeping crisis.
Our goals against column is amongst the best in the league. We’ve not been tonked and I don’t think we’ve shipped more than 2 in a game.
As mentioned, no player is perfect and can have some rough edges to their game. It seems unfortunate that any mistake gets intense scrutiny, move on to the next game.
Lets get behind the players and see how far it takes us.

October 7, 2025 at 5:09 pm #312054‘I don’t think we’ve shipped more than 2 in a game’
And only shipped two, once, I think, against Sutton?
October 7, 2025 at 5:31 pm #312055A check of the official records show you’re bang on, it was Sutton.
