Sounded refreshingly honest to me. Was proud of his players effort whilst accepting they are not very good. Talked of improving the quality of his hard working less technical players and getting more work out of the more competent players.
Makes a lot of sense and more interesting than “We trained really well this week”.
Did not sense the distancing mentioned but let’s face it – Hill did not pick any of the 25 players he has inherited and would have been unlikely to pick more than 4 or 5 of them.
