Just to clarify, for anyone still not clear, we are absolutely not bankrupt, if we were you’d bloody know about it. Secondly, every country is in debt, it’s the way of the world. It will never be paid off, and doesn’t need to be. It needs to be managed but that’s the same for every other country. It’s not like a household budget, there’s plenty of stuff about this out there if you care to research it instead of believing what the government tells you and what a large section of the press keep reinforcing. Thatcher preached the household debt myth and it’s continued since. Lastly, the debt is to the Bank of England so effectively we’re borrowing from ourselves. Wake up and open your eyes. Thankfully, more and more economists are finding a platform to myth bust about this and austerity, which is a choice not a necessity.
