Many of those who post on left wing social media, with explicit support for Corbyn, don’t have opinions far from Big J and the far right. I’ve seen many a comment of Jews deserved it, “you have got to question why Jews always are persecuted wherever they go”, and the Jews make a meal of the Holocaust. The EHRC did state that the Corbyn team did ignore concerns about a Holocaust denier as a councillor.
Left wing anti-Semitism does exist and has done for decades. “Anti-Semitism is the socialism of fools” was stated either by Ferdinand Kronawetter, August Bebel or Karl Marx in the 19th century, due to anti-Semitism from a proportion of socialists who associated Jews’ connection with banking and wealth as a conspiracy against the workers. This led to a realisation among German social democrats to warn against anti-Semitism against Jews because of such biases. Lest it needed be said, Jews went into banking because it was one of the few career paths which didn’t prohibit them, so it is foolish to hold such against them.
However, this hasn’t kept the far-right or left from going down this route since. Big J, Hitler, Stalin and others show that.
