This is what’s next….
MPs and Peers on Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights released a new report this week, raising serious concerns that the new Police Bill is in breach of the UK’s human rights obligations.
Netpol was one of several organisations who gave evidence to Parliament earlier this year, warning that new police powers would jeapordise our right to protest. The Chair of the Joint Committee, Harriet Harman MP, described proposals to allow police to restrict noisy protests as “oppressive and wrong”, and warned that proposals in the Bill “strike at the very heart of why people gather together to protest – to have their voices heard.”
