Most of us run on dual systems. Miles per gallon v litres of petrol at the pump, miles v km on your speedometer, your weight in stones / pounds v kilos, UK shoe size v EU size, and socket sizes too, as every vintage car mechanic knows, where there are several different standards, etc. etc.
A few things are still imperial tho’ – pints and gills in the pub… inches for your tv screen size (oddly, most of the world also uses this measurement for tv), tyres inflated in PSI, land bought and sold in acres, and the odd martyr in the market still selling his spuds by the pound (and getting fined in pounds, too).
And a few things have only ever been metric, like engine capacity (cc).
Is the crossbar still 8ft high?
