As a doctor I am frequently asked “Doctor, how can I learn to see and respect the points of view of others?”
Of course, the answer is quite simple. If the patient is full of his own self-importance, gaslighting others, arrogantly belittling and accusing them of saying things they haven’t, then people will react, and the patient’s self-esteem is going to take a battering.
Taking the right baby steps can help make life more rewarding and enjoyable, so they should recognize that the problem lies at home and not with someone else. Accept that there are others far more knowledgeable, from paleoclimatology to the roads of Scunthorpe. Avoid unhealthy foods, sweet drinks and alcohol. Do voluntary work. Sell the Big Issue. Stop saving money on electricity bills by gaslighting.
