I still think you can have all the best policies in the world, but we’re living in a time of personality politics and it seems to be the crucial thing to voters. I wonder if the simple reality is that a lot of voters have a ‘they’re all the same’ attitude, so they’ll make a decision on character and charisma? It would explain a lot.
Obviously this is just a strong feeling. I have no empirical evidence for this!
