If Corbyn was much more popular then why was his leadership approval rating -60 at time of the 2019 election, while Starmer’s typically hovers around 0 at present?
I would imagine that having Farage’s Brexit party split the Tory vote in 2019 helped this not be a thing in that election. With the Farage gone and Brexit happened that party has lost focus, so they went to the Tories. This result probably would have happened in 2019 if the Brexit Party didn’t run.
I would have thought the 2019 election and the flipping of many more similar seats to Hartlepool would have seen off the talk of safe Labour seats in what was the red wall.
Odd to see a right winger take a Corbynite line. I guess this old song has some merit:
