It’s true that public wildly underestimate the risks posed by climate change, but it’s also true of many other related issues:
It was the same when the link between cancer and smoking was established. It still is in many countries, where it’s not difficult to find people who deny it, or don’t care because they think it won’t affect them.
It was also the same with the supposed benefits of Brexit, or the benefits of voting Tory if you depend directly on the state for care/handouts/education, which the Tories consistently try to privatize, reduce or abolish, or live in a knackered northern town (ditto).
People can remarkably stupid in the face of facts, or when faced with plausible liars who confirm their prejudices.
