‘There’s a huge amount of ‘media snobbery’ around publications such as ‘The Daily Mail’ and ‘The Sun’. As though people who read them aren’t worthy. In fact these media both have massive global audiences online, which is how people increasingly get their news and information. They’re also hugely popular not only in the UK but in many other countries, including those where English isn’t the first language and across a very broad range of audience.’
It’s not ‘media snobbery’ to extremely dislike the general bigotry of either publication. You make it sound like they’re misunderstood. They’re not. They’re pretty deplorable in any set of circumstances. I’m not sure how much the rest of your claims about global audiences and huge populism in broad audiences in countries where English isn’t the first language is, but I’d be keen to know where this info is published to fact check it. And also, who is accessing it in those countries.
