I’m not suggesting racism doesn’t exist in Britain, especially unconsciously, but I can’t see any evidence of racism in any of the previous links.
Prince Harry clearly did previously have “a blind spot” as he thought it was acceptable to call one colleague his “little Paki friend” and another a “raghead”.
But that doesn’t mean the British Press or most of the British public – who called him out at the time BTW – are racist.
Fair enough, there’s no doubt some right-wing supporting papers do sometimes play to their own readers’ prejudice, especially on migration, but I don’t believe any have targeted Meghan Markle with negative stories due to her being black/bi-racial.
People who suggest so usually have a fairly transparent agenda and are essentially race-baiters IMHO, attempting to cause trouble and hatred rather than social change.
Clearly there have been a lot of negative headlines about Meghan, but these have been caused by a range of PR-blunders on her and Harry’s part, rather than anything to do with the colour of her skin.
The Press coverage – (social media is different) – before all these needless mistakes was almost completely positive and if anything showed an unconscious bias towards promoting the Royal Family to an almost sycophantic and embarrassing degree.
