I actually feel sorry for you, Heath, coming out with such a comment. Likewise Gurnelista, who very clearly for all his supposed “expertise” has zero understanding of mental illness.
I’m saying this on behalf of the millions of people in the UK now suffering from this crippling condition, which I can tell you from personal experience is unimaginably cruel. Having been the trustee of one of the UK’s leading children’s charities for mental health I can also tell you that it affects kids every bit as much as adults.
When you have clinical depression you would very happily take a bullet. That isn’t the same as being suicidal, btw, because you don’t want to die, but the illness is so bad that death would be preferable to living with such an illness. Seconds turn into days, minutes into weeks, hours into months and days into years, but these are times of despair, which I wouldn’t wish on anyone no matter how much I dislike them.
I don’t expect an apology from you or Gurnelista for your appalling comments, even though they really are on a par with the very worst any racist could throw at a black person. I do hope, however, that you will reflect on what you’ve said and take time to find out about what you’re mocking; and then I hope you will go out to a mental health charity and offer some help. Not money, just help, because that way you’ll realise why one of my daughter’s teachers who suffered from cancer said to me that she wouldn’t swap that for clinical depression. It was an incredibly brave thing for her to say and while I wouldn’t wish cancer or clinical depression on anyone, I did know where she was coming from.
I’ll leave it there. Thank you.
