EU farming subsidies just made big landowners richer.
This was true of course. Up here the Duke of Northumberland reaped some rich pickings, and if I remember correctly James Dyson was a big winner too (a vacuum cleaner farm?).
But surely these monies should have filtered down to grassroots agriculture and environmental issues rather than being retained by billionaires to pamper racehorses and Wagyu cattle.
So it could be argued that this is an internal wrangle, more socialism vs capitalism than UK vs EU. If said landowners had a moral conscience it wouldn’t be a problem.
