So that’s the level of debate and discussion, is it? A bunch of lefty remainers ranting on about anything and everything. The same bunch of lefty remainers coming out with the same stuff they always fall back on: nasty Tories, bashing the poor, Brexit disaster, you name it.
You really are a pathetic bunch. Why should anyone take any notice of the LSE or the ‘experts’? 99.9% of them were telling us the economy would fall off a cliff if the referendum vote was “leave”. It was and they were wrong. Not just a bit wrong but absolutely wrong. “The Tories are finished” we were told just months before delivering the greatest ever humiliation on a Labour opposition in an election that was effectively a second referendum.
The Government’s poured billions into the economy because of covid, not because there’s a ‘magic money tree’ but because it has no choice. Our grandchildren will still be paying for this when we’re all pushing up daisies. Any and every decision around Government support has to be looked at very carefully and the reason benefits get particular attention isn’t because the Tories “don’t care about the poor” but because welfare spending and the NHS dwarf everything else.
In the area where I now live the local communities are doing an amazing job supporting those who need it, from the elderly to the poor. Meanwhile the council’s more concerned with creating cycle ways that nobody uses but are very good at creating traffic jams, with cars idling and emergency vehicles unable to get through. You can’t take rubbish to the local tip unless you have papers that would make the Stasi look like amateurs. Still, they’ll continue to get their salaries and nice pensions while local businesses do what they can to survive and the local communities here do everything possible to support them.
As for the Scottish fishermen, what’s the betting that the problem here is down to endless forms they’ll now have to complete to ‘comply’ with EU regulations and numerous signatures from vets or health officials ‘checking’ the catch. French customs will be having a field day. Never mind common sense, just as long as the British learn their lesson. It’s also strange how many fishermen adapted to what happened to them after covid to find new markets and are now thriving despite everything while the Scottish fishermen appear to have done nothing to adapt either to covid or Brexit. That doesn’t mean I have no sympathy for them because I do, but it’s naive in the extreme not to wonder what’s really going on here. That Government compensation sounds very attractive.
Of course you’ll tell me I’m heartless, that I don’t care, etc, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth but that doesn’t matter to you, does it. In the Utopian world of the left you just tax the rich, let the state run everything and all will be well. Couldn’t be simpler, could it.
