Bucks as willing to portray his opponents as duplicitous as ever. I don’t know how he can keep a straight face when asking remainers not to make out Brexiters are all xenophobic when he just looks for portrayals which suit his narrative of a liberal elitist with the remain crowd.
No-one has become hardened Brexiters, Bucks. The point is that the deal is far less favourable than any deal we had before and the EU are not going to offer us deals which are equivalent to such for obvious reasons which have been spelled out before. We have spent billions on an inferior deal for fair trade and for the economy, and we should bear that in mind when lauding its praises, because for Brexit to be worth it it needs to be better than what was before. But who cares about trying to understand what the other side think when you can just portray the other side as duplicitous ghouls with questionable motives because it makes you look better, eh?
The deal does put us on a foundation for a better relationship and improved deal, but we won’t be getting any favourable aspects in comparison to things like the single market or EEA unless we rejoin them. Which would be a strange position for a Brexiter to argue as a positive, given that they have spent the past four years stating that we couldn’t be part of such, since that wouldn’t be true Brexit.
Yeah, yeah, we all heard how all the Brexiters were happy with the withdrawal agreement last year when it meant they could be triumphant to own the remainers. Less than a year later Brexiters were telling us that the withdrawal agreement was so bad we needed to break international law to rid it. I wonder how long this current deal will be seen as acceptable to some. It needs to be renewed in 5 years time. Will these triumphant voices be arguing for something else, because it wasn’t true Brexit, like they did within a year from changing minds on the withdrawal agreement? Farage and co are not happy and will be snapping at the heels of the Tories still, so will they pivot to pleasing them once again?
And who are Gurnelista’s mates? He may agree with me in my views, I don’t care, but I’ve made it clear that I do not approve of the conspiracies against all and sundry. However, I presume it’s easier for people like Bucks to not engage with honest debate and treat those who disagree with him as some hive mind, because he is utterly incapable of accepting others’ opinions. Just like anyone saying Brexiters were motivated purely by xenophobia.
