Today’s news of ongoing talks is good. It makes a deal more likely. However, I have no doubt it will be sold as the EU caving into the demands of a strong and independent Britain, ignoring that there will be no ceding over rights to market access, meaning any trade deal will be on stricter terms than before with fewer economic benefits.
However, an abysmal deals is better than no deal, so some panic could be averted. Meanwhile, I am sure that those who want to own the libs will rejoice, since this could render the alarms over no deal moot, so they will make out that it was all a fuss over nothing. Because when facing the prospect of a precipitous situation for the country it’s more important to laugh at liberals than find the best solution. And they have the nerve to make out it’s the Remainers who aren’t prioritising the country, as they treat any concerns for its wellbeing as cowardice and sexist tropes about being girly.
