“It might help if the Tories could do anything efficiently and effectively”
What do you expect from politicians and the Civil Service? Regardless of political colour the majority are very poor when it comes to doing anything in the real world, while those who are any good are hampered by the inevitable political machinery. Anyone who believes otherwise is just naive.
As for ostriches you lot have your heads in the sand more than anyone. It would appear that the UK’s ahead of the game on covid vaccination mainly because it refused to join the European Vaccination Initiative, which like everything else involving the EU is bogged down by the usual bureaucracy and wrangling.
Add to this the economic problems facing the eurozone even before covid and the disaster now facing it because of covid and we’re well out of it. Of course we’re facing massive economic issues of our own but at least we won’t be hampered by those EU states whose economies simply won’t survive without yet more help from countries such as Germany.
Talking of Germany they’re also facing economic meltdown and are now having the sort of problems other countries faced in the first wave of the pandemic, including the UK. All those who claimed Germany had the pandemic under control just a few months ago are now looking very foolish indeed; and just wait until the other EU countries start banging on Germany’s door for fiscal support.
Don’t be surprised if a lot more EU members come under huge pressure from their people to leave the Union over the next 12 months. As for the Brexit negotiations, it’s all exactly as expected. While nothing’s guaranteed it would be very surprising if a deal isn’t done at the last minute. The good thing is that we’re going to come out of this much stronger than would have been the case under the previous regime or a Labour government.
I doubt any of you will be prepared to debate let alone agree with any of this. In the usual way you’ll no doubt just attack me wearing your usual blinkers. That’s why I don’t come back very often.
