Yep, it’s typical of certain sections of the media.
The same sections are fond of using the phrase “looking after our own”, yet when someone they don’t like (young, black, rich…) does exactly that and seeks to do good for others, he gets stick for it.
It begs the question of who exactly are ‘our own’ that we should be looking after. Nurses, junior doctors, firefighters, public servants in general, Grenfell survivors, trade unions, blacks, gays, Muslims??
No, it can’t be, because the same sections of the press stir up campaigns against the very same people whenever they ask for a bit more security, safety, cash, protection….
So who is “our own”? What is meant, when certain sections of the press and certain posters on here, say we should look after “our own”?
I suspect what they really mean is themselves.
