“Starmer doesn’t appear to have learnt anything from the election hammering.”
The polls suggest otherwise and it seems pretty obvious that Starmer’s tactic is not to get sucked into Brexit culture wars where Johnson can frame him as a sabouteur out to stab the people in the back.
Coronavirus is here to stay, but that doesn’t mean we should shy away from measures to mitigate. We have had months to do something and it is evident that government measures to deal with this are inept. Track and trace is a farce, despite Johnson promising otherwise. Starmer is right to hold them to account on this. As his job as opposition, not government mollycoddler.
“Of course, there are ex-PMs lining up to criticise Boris about “Breaking the law” forgetting their own governments took bribes for questions or into a war based on a bunch of lies.”
Aamazing how ardent Tories are now playing the tune of the hard left when it suits them. They neglect to mention that the Conservatives backed the war at the time too. None of this excuses breaking of an international law. Whataboutery does nothing to justify us breaking agreements. It is therefore moot. Amazing how those who whine about Labour supporters doing this to them do the very same thing.
If you want to hand Labour the mantle of the party which respects law and order then do so. There’s a long way to go for Labour to recover, but the lead of the Tories has evaporated in the polls. By all means show how out of touch you are, it will only make Starmer’s job easier.
I have mentioned in the past that this board no longer seems the same and it does need some differing views. The problem is that you’re just as intolerant of other viewpoints as those you decry. Gurnelista and The 99% may rile with their portrayals of those who disagree, but you are quite clearly doing so here. You have mentioned the same 5 or six who post here agreeing. I have been regular on here, so this obviously includes me. However, once again, you neglect to mention that not once have I said a Corbyn government would be better, and don’t think they necessarily would have been better, so I don’t know why you see the need to try and make out that everyone on here has to have some leftist pro-Corbyn agenda.
Oh, wait, I do, it’s because you’re projecting, as this is clearly how you see anyone further to the left of Thatcher. No-one who isn’t a Tory can be earnest in their criticism of the government, they have to be biased towards Corbyn and unable to be balanced. You’re what you criticise.
