Michael Foot? Gordon Brown? Tony Blair?
It can be done, but it doesn’t mean that those who don’t do so should be slammed for accepting it, and it just reeks of hypocrisy when those complaining about the background of the leader didn’t care when they supported a very rich man of privilege who didn’t do so well at A level and had minimal experience outside of activism in any kind of work (yet made it to the House of Commons), while bemoaning someone from a poorer background because they have accepted a knighthood for rising to the head of the CPS.
