Good to hear, Heath. I hope she enjoys herself at university and she makes the most of the 3 years of her undergraduate and who knows more years of university if she pursues postgraduate degrees.
The big shame about this year is the social distancing aspect. That must make it so much harder to make friends now, and that is one of the highlights of university. Yes, it’s important to study, and that should be the primary focus for students, but the extracurricular activities like societies and interacting with others from different backgrounds is a valuable lesson in life experience. I’m sad that the flippin’ pandemic has made that harder for students. I hope she really enjoys it and isn’t daunted by the prospect. Those three years were some of the happiest of my life to date, and part of me wishes I could relive it with a slightly wiser head on (so that I could enjoy it further than I did do, without the needless worrying, but I guess that’s part and parcel of being a young adult at university when you’re first living as an individual), so part of me is envious.
