I may well be wrong BRI but JI may have diverged from your viewpoint as soon as you dropped in ‘liberally minded’. Given he has some potentially controversial takes on the US political scene (and I trust that to mean within this small number of posters over here), I’m reaching that conclusion. I’m having to second guess of course, as he’s not prepared to air those thoughts on here. The only thing that I find a little annoying is that a perceived set of lefties, rather than a number of individuals with individual views that happen to be left leaning and that don’t know each other beyond this forum, seem to be implied as the cause of his closure. And that’s unfortunate.
I suspect the controversial stance will be related to Israel, given the comments made by JI in the past. In which case, I urge him to listen to what Biden and Harris have said about Israel and not the simplistic and false portrayals by Republicans. Both are pro-Israel and against anti-Semitism. The likes of Ilhan Omar don’t represent the core of the Democratic Party and we should not judge them as a whole based on them. And it’s not like Trump’s Israel stance is tied to any kind of principle, and this article is a good read on that:
To be honest, this board is not being helped by the conspiratorial accusations by Gurnelista that there is a shadowy cabal of forum users orchestrated by Lesgeo and family. They may have been more active politically here once, but I think we need to be more grounded in treating people with different views. I see no similarities with JI and Les beyond a shared faith and JI’s version of Christianity differs to that of Les, who may be a creationist, if I am not mistaken?
