It’s the trial of Justles. We join the court as prosecuting barrister Mr Finesword is summing up:
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, it is well known that the good people of this community, and indeed the general public, hold an assortment of eccentric views both left and right, many of which display a tenuous connection with reality, and fall well outside the reason of this court.
That is the nature of a messageboard. But, what is objected to, is when witnesses come before the board and trumpet their credentials, for example, as a former magistrate, in order to appear plausible and persuasive, as they deliver the most outrageous pap, crap and lies, copy-pasting material taken from some of the most extreme, vile and disgusting ‘political’ sites on the web, all in support of the so-called ‘fabulous’ Farage.
The objection is reinforced when the same person does this knowing full well that many of those who read a football messageboard, do not seek out reliable information, but will likely defer to someone who holds a respectable, responsible position in the community, particularly if this person is able to confirm their prejudices.
If said former magistrate is apparently an Iron fan, and espouses views designed to stir up hatred and contribute to the creation of a climate in which it is OK to hate Muslims and immigrants, as well as OK to leave the EU without any sort of plan whatsoever, it becomes even more effective.
This was part of one of the most deceitful and divisive political campaigns ever concocted, and it was communicated in the most despicable way which effectively weaponised the board, yet you, Justles and the jonnies, got away with it because you knew very well that people were too slow to question, criticize, and above all, call out fake news.
The charge is, therefore, that you knew this better than anyone, and you used this knowledge to contribute to the poisoning of British society and politics. Yet now, having seen the gross error of your ways, the foolishness of Farage, and the divisions wracking Britain today, you seek to pass undercover, incognito, with an alternative screen-name – a sort of digital ‘burkha’ – in an attempt to conceal your shame!
You thought you’d taken the tide at the flood, yet now we’re all living bound in shallows and miseries. Y Sr. Justles, cuentanos, donde está la caridad Cristiana en esta decepción y duplicidad??
