New Scunthorpe signing Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is “over the moon” to have penned a deal with the club.
The winger joined the Iron on his 23rd birthday yesterday and he is excited to start a new chapter in his career at Glanford Park.
“I’m over the moon and I’m absolutely buzzing to sign here,” El-Mhanni told the club’s website.
“I just want to get started, train well and play some games. I’ve been training at a few places and I’ve been training with Brentford during pre-season.
“This opportunity came up and I thought it was the right opportunity for me, so I came here to train. I think I’ve impressed the manager enough to get a deal here. Now it’s time to knuckle down.”
The former Newcastle attacker is delighted to have been given an opportunity with United and talked about his style of play and what he can offer to the side.
“It was a good amount of time to show what I can do and the sessions I’ve been here for have been really good as well,” he said.
“The team are sound, it’s a good group of lads and I get along with all of them, so it’s good. It’s always difficult when you’re without a club, but you’ve got to stay mentally strong and I’ve been able to do that. Now that I’ve been provided my opportunity here, I just want to knuckle down and do the right things.
“The manager has told me to be patient and when my chance arrives do what I have to do and that is perform. I’d say I’m a tricky player. I like to beat players, I like to play around with one or two-touch passes.
“I want to win games. I’m competitive and I want to win.”
