Director denies reports Scunthorpe are up for sale

Scunthorpe United director Chris Swann has rubbished reports that the club is up for sale.

Swann moved quickly to refute claims in The Mail on Sunday that the Iron were up for sale with a price tag of £14 million.

He wrote on Twitter: “For everyone who’s been asking… Not up for sale. No offers.”

Iron chairman Peter Swann added in a statement: “We are working towards building the stadium up and developing the surrounding land so as to secure its future and compete as high as we can.

“We have reinvested in new players and will continue to do so.

“Obviously we are working towards gaining investment in the stadium so maybe this is what they are on about.”

“What I will say is if we did get any interest in the club then we would deal with that situation if it ever arrived on the basis of any offer.”
