Daws turns down assistant job

Tony Daws has turned down the offer of becoming Russ Wilcox’s assistant and will continue to work with the youth team.

Chairmain Peter Swann told the Official website: “Tony has had a fantastic year supporting Russ and the coaches, on their way to promotion and a discussion has taken place between the board, myself, Tony and Russ.

“There was a huge temptation for Tony to become assistant manager.

“However after long discussions Tony has decided to continue his role within the youth set up, although of course his input into the first team is crucial for the future development of our young players and he will still be very much part of the first team set up.”

It is now expected Andy Dawson will come assistant manager at Glanford Park, as he is currently completing his UEFA ‘A’ license.
