Daws delighted with Dales performance

Iron boss Nick Daws praised new signing Andy Dales following an impressive performance against Championship side Nottingham Forest last night at Glanford Park.

Dales, who signed from Mickleover Sports for a nominal fee this summer, was arguably Scunthorpe’s best player and won the man of the match award as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

“Andy Dales was probably the highlight of the first half,” Daws told the club’s official site.

“He was really bright, explosive and quick and that’s why we signed him.

He’s learning everyday and works hard when we’ve not got the ball as well.”

Daws added that the Forest test was exactly what he had expected and was pleased with his side’s defensive display.

“The test was exactly what we expected.”

“We expected that we would have little of the ball at times and that we would have to defend resolutely.

I thought we defended excellently to limit them to a couple of half chances.”
