Scunthorpe boss Nick Daws has said that the club are looking to make a couple more signings before the season opener with Coventry City on August 4th.
The Iron are still light in midfield despite the recent signing of NAC Breda midfielder James Horsfield and Daws is hoping to add to the squad once the Iron have returned from a pre season trip to Austria.
“I don’t anticipate us making anything other than a couple of signings and hopefully that will be sooner rather than later,” Daws told BBC Radio Humberside.
“We are still short in the middle of the pitch. We understand that and are working hard to rectify that.
“So far it has been a challenging window and we are at a period of time where supporters want signings left, right and centre but I can assure that we are trying our best and continuously working on strengthening the squad.
“I understand there is a slight frustration but we need to be patient.”
Daws added that the club would look to bring Ivan Toney back to Glanford Park for a third loan spell, if the striker was made available for loan by Newcastle United.
“Ivan Toney is very much in our thoughts but these things aren’t easy to get across the line. If we get an opportunity we will be in the market for it.”
