Byrne is guest at Trust AGM

Scunthorpe United fans favourite Cliff Byrne will be the star attraction at a free question and answer session at the end of February.

Byrne, who made 331 competitive appearances for the Iron between November 2002 and December 2013, will be the guest of honour at the Iron Trust AGM at the Wortley Hotel on Monday February 22.

The opening part of the meeting will be restricted to Trust members only from 7pm, before being opened to all comers for the session with Cliff from 8pm.

Trust board member Luke Thornhill said: “Cliff is a true favourite among fans because we could all see how much the club and area meant to him, and how he took his town to heart.

“It is a chance to find out how his coaching career at Sunderland is going, as well as reminiscing on his time at the club which coincided with some of the greatest moments in our recent history.

“While there is also plenty to look forward to on and off the pitch at the club at the moment, it will be nice to reflect on what it was like to be part of the teams which won the League One title, the League One play-off final and maintained their Championship status under Nigel Adkins.”
