Building work to start next month

Iron chairman Peter Swann has confirmed to that building work on the new 12,000 capacity stadium will commence next month.

It is understood that the club now have temporary access to the site, which will allow the first spade into the ground during August.

Swann confirmed the rumours that the stadium will cost in excess of the original estimate of £18million, but stated funds were in place and that more details would follow once proposed tenants were confirmed.

He also reiterated that the club would be in the stadium for the start of 2016/17 campaign.

The club announced that Buckingham Group Contracting will carry out the building work on the stadium, designed by the Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP), last month.
