Premier League side AFC Bournemouth’s Matt Butcher is a transfer target for Scunthorpe United, according to reports.

The 20 year-old central midfielder – who spent the majority of last season on loan at Yeovil Town – making 34 starts and scoring twice, is reportedly a transfer target for Graham Alexander.

The Iron, who are still light in midfield are widely reported to be chasing a further midfielder to bolster squad options.

An issue that was underlined by the Iron’s 1-1 draw against Wimbledon on Saturday, in which Neil Bishop was taken off injured, leaving central cover somewhat scarce.

Any deal for Butcher is thought to be on a loan basis, with the potential length of the deal uncertain.
