Graham Alexander believes Scunthorpe are close to registering a much needed victory, as they prepare to welcome relegation threatened Rochdale to Glanford Park this weekend.
The Iron are clinging on to a play-off spot despite a dreadful run of form which has seen them win just once in their last twelve outings, with Plymouth, Peterborough, Portsmouth and Charlton all in pursuit of Alexander’s faltering side with games in hand.
However Alexander claims recent performances have given him the belief that a win is just around the corner ahead of an Easter period where they face Oxford in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Good Friday and a tricky home game against Plymouth. You can catch all the action if you call Sky Sports and to secure a Sky Football package.
“We need to replicate Wigan and the first half of Saturday, “Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
“Those were two real tough games against two of the best three teams in the division.
“We need that final two per cent that turns a shot that hits the bar or a good save from a one on one to going in the back of the net.
“It is so difficult for me and my staff to look at the players and the team and have a go at them.
“They are creating unbelievable opportunities that we should and expect to take.
“We are on the cusp of getting the wins and we expect them to come in the next eight games.”
