Iron midfielder Luke Williams has suffered a further set back in his return from injury.

Williams was said to be close to a first team return but now faces further time on the sidelines following a hamstring injury he picked up in training.

“Luke picked up another injury in training and has gone to see a specialist so he will be missing for a little while yet,” Iron boss Graham Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“It is extremely disappointing because I thought we were getting close to having Willo available again because he trained with us for eight to nine days without any problems.

“Then he picked another injury so we will wait to see the extent of it and see how long he is out for.

“We are waiting for the information on that to come back but he is not going to be fit for a good few weeks yet.

“It is a big blow for him and a blow for us because we were looking forward to having him back.”

Williams has managed just 22 league starts since his arrival from Middlesborough in July 2015.
