Swann offers gaffer role

Iron Chairman Peter Swann has met with a prospective new manager and offered him the job,.

Swann is hopeful of getting an answer from his preferred choice, but is unlikely to go public before Saturday’s away clash at Gillingham.

He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “I’ve done my homework and hopefully we can name somebody over the weekend.”

“I targeted a particular manager I wanted to go for. I’ve had that meeting and I’m waiting for an answer.

Ex Huddersfield boss Mark Robins is now odds on favourite for the role but has stated he has not received contact from the club, whilst Swann himself has played down the link with Tony Mowbray who is also prominent in the betting.
