Scunthorpe set to sign striker Simon Church

The Iron are reportedly set to sign Welsh striker Simon Church.

The free agent, who has also been attracting interest from fellow League One side Plymouth Argyle, is close to signing for the Iron, according to S*n journalist, Alan Nixon.

The 28-year-old most recently played for Eredivisie side Roda JC Kerkrade.

Church spent ten years at Reading after coming through the youth ranks in his teens.

Alexander has moved for Church to try and remedy the current goal drought at the top end of the pitch. With the Iron’s only recognised poacher, Paddy Madden, failing to score in more than one of the last 23 league games.
