Iron boss Mark Robins has conceded that his side are not good enough when facing the ‘better teams in the division’.
In the wake of the 4-0 home defeat to in form Peterborough, he also hinted that the club need to strengthen if they have realistic aims of finishing in the top six this season.
Robins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “We spoke before about the three games we were due to face against teams in the top six and we’ve won one and lost two home games.
“That tells you where we are at the moment – around mid-table. To do better than that we have to learn and maybe add to the squad.
“To have a realistic chance of getting in that top six we’ve got to have a little bit more grit, a bit more determination and a bit more know-how.
“At this moment in time we’re not good enough against the better teams in the division.
“We’ve got to deal with the teams in the top area of the league better than we have done of late.
“Whatever happens moving forward, we know we’re a mid-table team”.
