Robins interested in “a number of players”

Iron boss Mark Robins has told the Scunthorpe Telegraph that the club are pursuing numerous transfer targets during the January window.

“We are interested in a number of players but will not be commenting on names,” he said.

“We have just signed Murray Wallace and that was a big, big thing for us.

“The chairman has put his hand in his pocket and brought in a player who has played in the Championship for the last three-and-a-half years.”

Robins said they are looking to sign more players of Wallace’s quality to try and climb the table.

It is believed that United have shown an interest in Swindon striker Michael Smith, who wants to move closer to his home in the North East.

The Iron are also hoping to talk to Wolves regarding the future of Tommy Rowe, who impressed on loan earlier this season, however Robins confirmed that those talks had not yet taken place.
