No enquiries for Mirfin

David Mirfin Scunthorpe 3099867

Iron boss Mark Robins is surprised that the club have not received any loan enquries for returning centre back David Mirfin.

He was made available for loan last week in a bid to build up his fitness following a long spell out with injury.

“There’s nothing at the moment – we’ve not had any enquiries or anything and I’m surprised about that in all fairness because he’s a stalwart,” Robins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“He’s been out for a little while but he’s been back training and he’s ready to go. He just needs some games as with the lack of opportunities in terms of reserve matches, he’s not had that practice.

“For us to throw him in at this time is difficult, but I know his capabilities. It’s the same with Niall Canavan. We look forward to getting them fully fit and playing again.”

Mirfin signed a new two-year contract in the summer.
