Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann has revealed that the new stadium will not be completed by March 2017, following further delays in acquiring the plot of land.
Swann had revealed on Christmas Eve that March 2017 was the proposed completion date, but the club have stated they have faced delays due to the other parties involved in the deal.
He told fans during last nights exclusive Iron-Bru.co.uk Q&A that he was frustrated, but stressed the stadium build will still happen.
“The sensitivity of the issues make it hard to discuss”, he said.
“I am frustrated because I have only acted on the information given to me by all involved regarding dates.
“There are currently options between the landowner and Lucent and us and Lucent. The farmer wants his money and we want the land.
“When he gets his money from Lucent, we get the land.
“Things are not straightforward and there are large amounts of money involved. It has to be done right, which undoubtedly means potential delays.
He also confirmed the club had a contingency plan in place in case the Lucent deal fell through.
“All is in place to secure the land and we do have a contingency plan if it fails, but I am very hopeful we will have that land”.
