Matt Crooks has been ruled out of the Iron’s Easter weekend fixtures and is due to see a specialist on the injury he picked up against Bolton Wanderers.
The on loan Rangers midfielder suffered a knee injury and despite attempting to play on, was replaced at half time.
Alexander is not yet sure how serious the injury is, but was boosted by the return of Sam Mantom who came through his cameo unscathed.
“Crooksy picked up a knock on his knee and it was 50/50 whether he could continue but going on medical advice it was best we brought him off,” Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
“Sam had only trained for a couple of days so there was a risk in there but with four games to go we know what quality Sam possesses.
“He trained over the last couple of days because he has been out for a while and we wanted to try and get 20 minutes out of him if we could.
“He got on towards the end. He is an excellent player and we needed him at that particular time.”
