Iron boss Graham Alexander says he cannot put a timescale on striker Paddy Madden’s recovery from a calf injury.

Madden, who missed the friendly with Hull City on Saturday, looks set to also miss the next two warm up fixtures against Rotherham and Hartlepool.

“There is no development on Paddy’s injury and we are waiting to see how it settles down and hopefully we will know a little bit more today or Tuesday and take it from there,” Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“It is a slight calf strain but we don’t know how serious it is or the recovery time of Paddy because fortunately for us he has never been injured while I have been here.

“The recovery time could be really quick which we hope it will be so hopefully Paddy will be with us sooner rather than later.”

Alexander also revealed that new signing Sam Mantom was still a couple of weeks away from a return to training, but there was positive news regarding midfielder Jamie Ness who was due to return to training today.
