Luke Williams nearing Iron return

Iron boss Mark Robins has confirmed that midfielder Luke Williams is nearing a return to the first team, after a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The former Middlesbrough man has been training with the first-team squad this week and will play in next Tuesday’s reserve game against Rotherham.

“Luke is training with us again which is great and he joined in with a full session on Thursday,” Robins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“He is maybe a week to 10 days away and will play some part in Tuesday’s reserve game.

“If we’d had that game beforehand he would have been involved this week but he just needs to get a good tackle in and test out the injury.

“His movement is fine, he is twisting and turning – we’ve just got to make sure this end stage is as good as it possibly can be because we don’t want to lose him for any more games.”
