L1: Blackpool remove offensive Twitter account

Blackpool FC have taken down an official club Twitter account which contained an abusive message about a supporter.

The Daily Mail reported that a tweet sent from Blackpool’s official commercial account branded supporters ‘a*** hole w******’.

Blackpool FC have responded with a statement suggesting the vulgar comment was made by a former employee as none of its current staff had access to that Twitter account.

It read: “The club does not condone the views expressed and has since had this account removed”.
