King signs for Iron

Scunthorpe United have announced the signing of Preston utility man Jack King on a two year deal.

King, who can play across the back four and in midfield, made 28 appearances for promotion-winning Preston last term and appeared as a substitute in their 4-0 win at Glanford Park.

He will join United when his contract at Deepdale expires in June.

King told the official website: “I’ve played the last three seasons at this level and I know quite a bit about it. I’ve played over a hundred games for Preston but it was time to move on for me.

“I needed to be playing games at this stage of my career so hopefully I can do that here and it will contribute to a successful season.

“I wouldn’t be coming here if we were looking at just being a mid-table team. I want to get that promotion”.
