Mark Robins make his bow as Scunthorpe manager and they have a winnable home match at Glanford Park
Scunthorpe have an opportunity to climb out of the League One relegation zone on Saturday, with the Iron facing fellow strugglers Colchester in a match of vital importance for both sides.
Russ Wilcox did a grand job getting Scunthorpe promoted last season although the new York manager has now made way for Mark Robins who brings plenty of experience to the role after his time at Barnsley and Huddersfield.
Robins will have been encouraged by United’s 3-0 win at Gillingham last weekend which saw the visitors capitalise on a sending off to put the Gills to the sword and they look a backable price to record consecutive victories.
Scunthorpe can be backed at 19/10 with bet365 to win their third home match of the season, with Paddy Madden having scored in four of his last seven games including the games against Gillingham and Notts County.
Madden has been prolific at this level before with Yeovil and rates a decent bet at 11/2 to score the first goal of this game as the Iron bid to survive in the division without the services of Sam Winnall.
Colchester can be leapfrogged with a win although the visitors will be eyeing this match as a chance to work themselves into mid-table, with the Essex side beating Fleetwood 2-1 last weekend.
Colchester are full of goals at the moment, having recently won 3-0 at Crewe and they played their part in a 4-2 defeat at Preston to suggest that this match won’t be a dull affair!
Freddie Sears has six for the season and the former West Ham forward looks set to be the danger man for the visitors, with odds of 7/1 about him scoring first in this game.
Ultimately, we see a high-scoring game between two sides who are suspect defensively and we will have a speculative punt on Scunny at 28/1 to win the game by a 3-2 scoreline.
